Nick Castellano, LB, Jackson

Castellano led the #1 ranked defense in the Shore Conference from his linebacker post for the 12-0 Jaguars.  A one-man wrecking crew who combined intensity with reckless abandon on every down, Castellano finished the season with 148 tackles while making life miserable for opposing quarterbacks in the process.  Along with being a special teams terror, Castellano also ran for 1,451 yards from his running back position and scored 14 touchdowns for the South Jersey Group 4 Champions.  Named the Asbury Park Press' Defensive Player of the Year, Castellano also earned 1st Team status on the Assocated Press All-State squad.  Only a junior, Castellano will again lead the Jaguars during the 2001 season as they try to repeat as Shore Conference and State Champions.
